Technical Analysis

The TYPO3 extension "TYPO3 Shop by coding.ms" contains a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in its PayPal payment notification endpoint. The endpoint accepts incoming data without verifying its source, enabling unauthenticated users to overwrite payment notifications for orders awaiting payment. This requires the presence of a page containing the shop's order plugin. Paid orders are not impacted. The vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 base score of 6.9 (medium severity).

Potential Impact

An attacker can overwrite payment notifications for unpaid orders with arbitrary data, potentially causing incorrect order status or payment processing issues. Paid orders remain unaffected. There is no indication of remote code execution or privilege escalation from the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to pages containing the shop's order plugin and monitor for unauthorized modifications to payment notifications.
