Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-113489 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the GeoDirectory WordPress plugin prior to version 2.8.194. The vulnerability stems from the plugin failing to verify ownership of attachments when saving listings. As a result, users with Subscriber-level access or greater can manipulate image attributes (title, caption, moderation status, featured flag) of images associated with other users' listings, including claiming another user's image as their own featured image. This is classified under CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key).

Potential Impact

An attacker with Subscriber-level access can alter metadata of images belonging to other users' listings, potentially leading to unauthorized content modification and misrepresentation of ownership of images. This could affect the integrity and trustworthiness of listings within the GeoDirectory plugin environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in GeoDirectory version 2.8.194 and later. Users should upgrade to version 2.8.194 or newer to remediate this vulnerability. No vendor advisory content was provided to indicate alternative mitigations or temporary fixes.
