CVE-2026-113605: Incomplete List of Disallowed Inputs in Stirling-Tools Stirling-PDF
Description
Stirling-PDF from 2.13.2 through 3.2.0 contains an incomplete denylist in DatabaseService.validateSqlContent() that allows administrators to bypass H2 import restrictions using CREATE OR REPLACE ALIAS. Authenticated administrators can upload a crafted SQL backup to the import-database endpoint, where RUNSCRIPT defines H2 Java function aliases and restores Java-method execution.

Technical Analysis
The vulnerability in Stirling-PDF from versions 2.13.2 through 3.2.0 arises from an incomplete denylist in the DatabaseService.validateSqlContent() method. This flaw permits authenticated administrators to circumvent H2 database import restrictions by leveraging CREATE OR REPLACE ALIAS commands. By uploading a specially crafted SQL backup to the import-database endpoint, attackers can use the RUNSCRIPT command to define Java function aliases, effectively enabling execution of arbitrary Java methods within the H2 database context.
Potential Impact
Authenticated administrators can bypass intended import restrictions on the H2 database, allowing them to execute arbitrary Java methods via crafted SQL backups. This could lead to unauthorized code execution within the application environment, potentially compromising system integrity and security. The vulnerability requires high privileges (administrator access) and does not involve user interaction.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict administrator access to trusted personnel only and monitor for suspicious use of the import-database endpoint. Avoid uploading untrusted SQL backups. Follow vendor communications for updates on patches or official mitigations.
