Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-113612 describes a missing authorization vulnerability in SparkyFitness prior to version 0.17.0. Authenticated users can exploit the DELETE /api/foods/food-variants/:id endpoint without proper authorization checks to delete food variant data belonging to other users. The variant IDs required for the attack can be obtained from public food read endpoints, enabling attackers to remove serving and nutrition variants of publicly shared foods, thereby destroying victim data.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows authenticated users to delete food variant data of other users, leading to potential data loss and disruption of shared food information. This unauthorized deletion compromises data integrity and availability for affected users.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in SparkyFitness version 0.17.0 and later. Users should upgrade to version 0.17.0 or newer to remediate this vulnerability. No vendor advisory was provided, so patch status is based on the stated affected versions.
