Vendor/Project: apostrophecms
Product: apostrophe

Description

ApostropheCMS is an open-source Node.js content management system. Prior to 4.33.0, ApostropheCMS’s exist-in-locale API allows an authenticated low-privilege user to determine whether restricted documents exist in a specified locale and mode, including draft mode. The endpoint returns localized document identifiers without applying document-level view or edit authorization criteria. This issue is fixed in version 4.33.0.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-113660 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in ApostropheCMS, an open-source Node.js content management system. The exist-in-locale API endpoint prior to version 4.33.0 improperly returns localized document identifiers to authenticated low-privilege users without enforcing document-level view or edit permissions. This allows such users to confirm the presence of restricted documents in various locales and modes, including drafts. The vulnerability is fixed in ApostropheCMS version 4.33.0.

Potential Impact

An authenticated user with low privileges can determine the existence of restricted documents in specific locales and modes, potentially exposing information about document presence that should be confidential. There is no indication of data modification or denial of service impact. The CVSS score is 4.3 (medium severity), reflecting limited confidentiality impact and no integrity or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade ApostropheCMS to version 4.33.0 or later, where this missing authorization issue is fixed. No other mitigations are specified or required.
