Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in HarnessRouter (versions 0.31.0 through 0.31.10) arises from improper authorization checks related to the handling of the X-Harness-Org and X-Harness-Member HTTP headers in the Identity Mode component (gateway/app.py). An attacker can remotely manipulate these headers to bypass authorization mechanisms. The attack complexity is high, and exploitability is difficult. The issue is fixed in version 0.31.11 with patch 48a26cdf9c4544d2c88d1a07f0777f063f1d753f.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to bypass authorization controls remotely, potentially gaining unauthorized access to resources or functions protected by the Identity Mode component. However, the attack complexity and exploit difficulty reduce the likelihood of widespread exploitation.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade HarnessRouter to version 0.31.11 or later, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. No other mitigations are specified or required.
