Technical Analysis
HarnessRouter versions up to and including 0.31.12 contain a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the Targets Test Endpoint component, specifically in the gateway/app.py file. The vulnerability arises from improper handling of the base_url argument, allowing an attacker to manipulate it to perform SSRF attacks remotely. The issue is fixed in version 0.31.13, as indicated by the patch identified by commit 1c4b1fc1f89737dabd089ac1d1c174a57f764e28.
Potential Impact
An attacker with remote access can exploit this vulnerability to perform server-side request forgery, potentially causing the server to make unauthorized requests to internal or external systems. The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 reflects a medium severity impact with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction required, and limited confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.
Mitigation Recommendations
Upgrade HarnessRouter to version 0.31.13 or later, which contains the official fix for this SSRF vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying this update.
