AI-suggested
No explicit patch or remediation details are provided in the available data. Until a fix is available, carefully review and avoid configurations that mix wildcard and concrete domain entries in registry pull configurations to reduce risk.
Description
Edgeless Systems Contrast versions 1.21.0 up to but not including 1.25.0 have a flaw in the imagepuller component where wildcard registry configurations may be incorrectly preferred over exact domain matches. This can cause credentials or metadata intended for wildcard domains to be applied to specific registries, potentially leaking sensitive information. The vulnerability has a low severity score and requires local attacker privileges with high attack complexity to exploit.
Impact
The impact is limited to potential leakage of registry credentials or pull metadata due to incorrect application of wildcard configuration entries to concrete registries. The CVSS 4.0 score is 2.1 (low), indicating low severity with requirements for local attacker privileges and high attack complexity. There is no indication of remote exploitation or broader system compromise.
Summary
CVE-2026-116197 describes a non-deterministic registry selection flaw in Edgeless Systems Contrast's imagepuller from versions 1.21.0 to before 1.25.0. When both a concrete domain and its parent wildcard are present in pull configurations, the system may incorrectly apply credentials, CA bundles, or mirror settings from the wildcard to the concrete domain. This improper validation of equivalence in input can lead to leakage of registry credentials or pull metadata.
