Upgrade FreeSWITCH to version 1.11.2 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Until then, restrict access to the Event Socket interface using ACLs to trusted hosts only. No other specific mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2026-116787 is an integer overflow vulnerability in FreeSWITCH mod_event_socket prior to version 1.11.2. The vulnerability arises because an unauthenticated Content-Length header value is used directly for memory allocation, allowing negative or very large values to cause process termination. This can lead to denial of service by aborting the FreeSWITCH process and dropping all active calls until the service is restarted. The issue affects both inbound connections allowed by the ACL and outbound connections to hostile application servers. The vulnerability is fixed in FreeSWITCH version 1.11.2.
