Upgrade Semantic MediaWiki to version 7.3.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

Semantic MediaWiki versions from 2.5.0 up to but not including 7.3.1 contain a vulnerability that allows low-privilege editors to cause uncontrolled resource consumption. By supplying a large limit parameter to the #set_recurring_event parser function without specifying an end date, attackers can generate a massive number of date subobjects. This leads to exhaustion of CPU, memory, and database resources. The issue is fixed in version 7.3.1.
