AI-suggested

Upgrade Semantic MediaWiki to version 7.3.1 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other vendor advisories indicate alternative mitigations or that the issue is already mitigated. Applying the official fix is the recommended remediation.

Description

Semantic MediaWiki versions from 4.2.0 up to but not including 7.3.1 contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. Authenticated users with profile or schema editing permissions can inject malicious HTML through FacetedSearch exploration-link labels. This injected markup is passed unescaped to the page rendering function, allowing script execution in the browsers of users viewing the affected Special:FacetedSearch page. The vulnerability is fixed in version 7.3.1.
