Published: 06/22/2026 (06/22/2026, 17:53:48 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: TP-Link Systems Inc.
Product: Archer MR200 v07

Description

A command injection vulnerability has been identified in the DHCP option processing logic in multiple TP-Link router models, due to insufficient validation of externally supplied DHCP option data. An adjacent attacker may exploit this vulnerability by supplying crafted DHCP responses, potentially resulting in unauthorized command execution during device initialization or provisioning workflows. This typically occurs when the device is in a factory-default or unconfigured state. Successful exploitation may allow an adjacent, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands with elevated privileges, potentially leading to full compromise of the affected device and unauthorized administrative control.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves improper neutralization of special elements used in OS commands (CWE-78) within the DHCP option processing of TP-Link Archer MR200 v07. An adjacent unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending malicious DHCP responses during device initialization or provisioning, typically when the device is unconfigured. Successful exploitation results in arbitrary command execution with elevated privileges, potentially granting unauthorized administrative control over the device. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.7, indicating high severity. No patch or official remediation has been disclosed yet.

Potential Impact

An adjacent attacker can execute arbitrary commands with elevated privileges on the affected device, potentially leading to full compromise and unauthorized administrative access. This risk is heightened during device initialization or provisioning when the device is in a factory-default or unconfigured state.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the device's network segment to trusted clients only, especially during initial setup. Monitor vendor communications for updates on patches or mitigations.
