Upgrade Botan to version 3.13.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Avoid using the FFI raw ECB mode with externally supplied algorithm parameters and the Lion cipher until the update is applied.
Description
A critical out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the Botan C++ cryptography library versions from 2.1.0 up to but not including 3.13.0. The issue occurs in the C API function botan_block_cipher_block_size, which converts a size_t block size to int without bounds checking. This can lead to memory corruption when using the FFI raw ECB mode with the variable-block-size Lion cipher. The vulnerability is fixed in version 3.13.0.
