Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-11912 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Simple File List plugin for WordPress by eemitch. It affects all versions up to and including 6.3.7. The plugin fails to properly verify authorization before allowing file modifications, enabling unauthenticated attackers to delete or modify files on the server. The vulnerability is exploitable even if the administrator has not enabled the AllowFrontManage setting, due to the is_admin() check short-circuiting the authorization guard prematurely.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can modify or delete files on the affected server, leading to integrity loss of files managed by the plugin. Confidentiality and availability impacts are not indicated. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.5 (High), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and impact to integrity only.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — no official fix or patch links are currently available. Users should monitor the vendor's advisory for updates and apply any official patches once released. Until then, consider restricting access to the plugin or disabling it if possible to reduce exposure.
