AI-suggested
Upgrade OPNsense core to version 26.7.8 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
OPNsense core versions before 26.7.8 contain a command injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users with System: Firmware privileges to execute arbitrary commands as root. This occurs via a malicious firmware mirror URL submitted through the API endpoint /api/core/firmware/set. The vulnerability involves unsafe evaluation of user input with eval and allows disabling package signature verification through sed injection. The issue is fixed in version 26.7.8.
