Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-12057) involves Foxit AI's improper handling of JavaScript execution within PDF sandboxing. Specifically, the application does not intercept some dangerous interfaces, enabling remote scripts embedded in PDFs to be loaded and executed. This results in arbitrary code execution, posing a critical risk to system security. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.6, indicating high severity with local attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, scope changed, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is no vendor advisory or patch information available at this time.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely by embedding malicious JavaScript in a PDF file. This compromises confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. The vulnerability requires local access and user interaction but does not require privileges, making it a significant risk if a user opens a crafted PDF.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, users should exercise caution when opening PDFs from untrusted sources and consider disabling JavaScript execution in Foxit AI if possible.
