AI-suggested

Users should monitor the vendor's advisory for updates and consider disabling video lazy loading or restricting comment approvals until a fix is released. Administrators should be cautious when approving comments and review them carefully to prevent injection of malicious scripts.

Description

A stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the Optimole WordPress plugin up to version 4.2.18. The flaw arises from insufficient sanitization and escaping of the 'comment' parameter, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts. Exploitation requires the injected comment to be approved by an administrator and the affected post to include at least one iframe or video element, which is common when video lazy loading is enabled by default.
