Until a fix is available, users should avoid connecting to untrusted or potentially malicious RDP servers and consider network-level protections to restrict RDP server access.

Description

CVE-2026-121958 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in FreeRDP versions up to 3.32.1. It occurs in the RDPGFX client due to improper handling of surface hash keys, which are truncated to 16 bits, causing inconsistencies in the surface table. This leads to out-of-bounds writes when processing certain RDP graphics protocol messages. An attacker controlling or intercepting the RDP server can exploit this by sending crafted surface deletion requests and graphics commands.
