Until a fix is available, users should consider restricting access to the affected API endpoints or implementing stronger URL validation to prevent SSRF. Monitor vendor communications for updates and apply patches promptly once released.

Description

Buku (bukuserver) versions up to 5.1.1 have an unauthenticated server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability. This flaw allows remote attackers to supply a URL parameter to specific API endpoints, causing the server to make requests to internal hosts, including loopback, private, or cloud metadata IP addresses. The vulnerability arises because the is_bad_url() check is weak and redirects are followed, enabling attackers to discover internal services and extract metadata such as page titles, descriptions, and keywords.
