AI-suggested

Upgrade OpenEMR to version 8.3.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated in the available data.

Description

OpenEMR versions prior to 8.3.0 contain a critical path traversal vulnerability in the RingCentral RCFaxClient disposeDocument() method within the oe-module-faxsms. Authenticated attackers can exploit the file_path parameter to read arbitrary files using the action=download option or write web-executable files via action=setup with base64 content, potentially leading to remote code execution. This vulnerability is fixed in OpenEMR 8.3.0.
