Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-1372 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Tutor LMS Elementor Addons WordPress plugin affecting all versions up to and including 4.0.0. The issue stems from the lack of capability checks on the activate_tutor_free() and activate_elementor_free() functions, which are registered as admin_action handlers. This allows authenticated users with low privileges (Subscriber-level and above) to activate the Tutor LMS and Elementor plugins without proper authorization controls.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated access at Subscriber level or higher can activate the Tutor LMS and Elementor plugins without proper authorization. This could lead to unauthorized changes in plugin activation state, potentially enabling further actions depending on the activated plugins' functionality. There is no direct confidentiality or availability impact reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict user roles and permissions to trusted users only. Monitor for updates from the vendor (themeum) regarding a security patch addressing this missing authorization issue.
