Source: CVE Database V5
Product: YOP Poll

Description

The YOP Poll WordPress plugin version 7.0.0 has an authentication bypass vulnerability due to improper validation of the connection's origin IP address. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14840 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in the YOP Poll WordPress plugin before version 7.0.6. The plugin fails to validate the true origin IP address of connections and instead relies on client-controlled forwarding headers to enforce per-IP vote restrictions. This flaw enables unauthenticated attackers to spoof IP addresses and bypass vote limits, allowing unlimited votes on public polls.

Potential Impact

Attackers can bypass the per-IP vote restriction mechanism, enabling them to cast unlimited votes on public polls. This can compromise the integrity of poll results but does not directly affect system confidentiality, integrity, or availability beyond the poll manipulation.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch is currently documented. Until a patch is available, administrators should consider disabling the plugin or restricting access to polls to trusted users to mitigate abuse.
