Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-14848 is an improper access control vulnerability (CWE-284) in the Paid Membership Subscriptions WordPress plugin prior to version 3.0.8. The plugin fails to verify that the subscription being modified during the change-subscription checkout process belongs to the current authenticated user. As a result, any authenticated user with Subscriber-level access or above can take over another member's subscription and alter its plan, status, and expiration attributes.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized modification of subscription details by authenticated users with Subscriber-level access or higher. This can lead to integrity issues such as unauthorized subscription plan changes, status updates, or expiration manipulations. There is no direct confidentiality impact reported, but availability may be affected due to subscription status changes.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict Subscriber-level user permissions where possible and monitor for suspicious subscription modifications.
