Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15147 describes an insufficient verification of data authenticity (CWE-345) in the Five Star Restaurant Reservations WordPress plugin prior to version 2.7.23. The plugin fails to validate incoming payment notifications properly, including checks on the payment recipient, amount, status, and association with the intended booking. This allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate pending reservations by marking them as paid and confirmed without legitimate payment.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows attackers to confirm reservations without actual payment, potentially leading to fraudulent bookings and financial loss for the restaurant. There is no impact on confidentiality or availability reported. The CVSS score of 5.3 (medium severity) reflects the limited scope of impact focused on integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch is currently documented. Until a patch is available, users should monitor for vendor updates and consider additional manual verification of payment notifications to mitigate risk.
