Vendor/Project: berocket
Product: Brands for WooCommerce

Description

The Brands for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'width' Shortcode Attribute in all versions up to, and including, 3.8.8 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-15648 describes a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Brands for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress. The flaw is due to improper neutralization of input during web page generation, specifically via the 'width' shortcode attribute. Authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or above can exploit this to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute in the context of users visiting the injected pages. The vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 3.8.8. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.4, reflecting a medium severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, privileges required at the contributor level, no user interaction needed, and impacts on confidentiality and integrity with no impact on availability. No official patch or remediation level has been published yet, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker with contributor-level access or higher to inject persistent malicious scripts into pages via the 'width' shortcode attribute. These scripts execute whenever users access the compromised pages, potentially leading to unauthorized disclosure of information and modification of content. The vulnerability does not impact availability but compromises confidentiality and integrity of affected users' sessions or data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict contributor-level access to trusted users only and consider disabling or limiting use of the 'width' shortcode attribute if possible. Monitor official vendor channels for updates and apply patches promptly once available.
