Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-16248 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Tenda AC10 firmware version 16.03.10.09_multi_TDE01. The issue resides in the fromAdvSetLanip function of the /goform/AdvSetLanip endpoint within the httpd/netctrl component. Remote attackers can exploit this by manipulating the GetValue/SetValue argument, leading to a buffer overflow on the stack. This vulnerability has a CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7, indicating high severity. No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available, and the vulnerability state is published without a remediation level.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow remote attackers to cause a stack-based buffer overflow, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution or denial of service on the affected device. Given the high CVSS score and remote attack vector with no required user interaction, the impact is significant for affected devices running the specified firmware version.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, consider limiting remote access to the affected device's management interface to trusted networks only to reduce exposure.
