Technical Analysis

This vulnerability arises from improper handling of DXF file data in Autodesk AutoCAD version 2027.0.0, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow (CWE-122). An attacker can exploit this by supplying a specially crafted DXF file, potentially causing denial of service, data disclosure, or remote code execution with user-level privileges. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 7.8, reflecting high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. No known exploits in the wild have been reported, and no official remediation or patch has been disclosed by Autodesk as of the publication date.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can cause AutoCAD to crash, leak sensitive information, or allow execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the current user process. This can compromise system confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, avoid opening untrusted or suspicious DXF files in AutoCAD 2027.0.0. Monitor Autodesk's security advisories for updates.
