Description

The Wired Impact Volunteer Management WordPress plugin before version 2.8.2 lacks proper authorization checks in one of its AJAX actions. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-16546 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Wired Impact Volunteer Management WordPress plugin prior to version 2.8.2. The plugin fails to perform authorization checks in an AJAX action responsible for removing RSVPs. Consequently, any user with a Subscriber role can remove arbitrary RSVPs from any volunteer opportunity, potentially disrupting volunteer management processes.

Potential Impact

An attacker with a Subscriber role can remove RSVPs of other users from volunteer opportunities without permission. This could lead to denial of service for legitimate volunteers or manipulation of volunteer attendance records. There is no indication of privilege escalation beyond RSVP removal or data disclosure.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict Subscriber role capabilities if possible or monitor for suspicious RSVP removals. Avoid granting unnecessary permissions to low-privilege users.
