Technical Analysis
The MStore API WordPress plugin versions prior to 4.21.1 contain a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in one of its delivery endpoints. The plugin fails to verify ownership of the order by the authenticated user making the request. As a result, any authenticated user, even with minimal privileges such as Subscriber, can mark arbitrary orders as completed and paid without payment being processed. This could lead to unauthorized order status manipulation.
Potential Impact
An attacker with any authenticated user privileges can manipulate order statuses to mark them as completed and paid without making any payment. This compromises the integrity of order processing and could lead to financial loss or fraudulent order fulfillment. There is no impact on confidentiality or availability reported.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or patch link is provided, users should monitor the vendor's announcements for updates. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated user roles and monitor order status changes closely if possible.
