Published: 08/12/2026 (08/12/2026, 20:24:35 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: MongoDB
Product: BI Connector ODBC Driver

Description

CVE-2026-19002 is a high-severity buffer overflow vulnerability in the MongoDB BI Connector ODBC Driver. It arises from a missing bounds check when parsing stored procedure parameter metadata, allowing an out-of-bounds write in the client application process. Exploitation requires control over or the ability to impersonate the server the driver connects to, to supply malformed metadata. This memory corruption can cause application crashes or potentially execute unintended code.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-19002) in the MongoDB BI Connector ODBC Driver is due to a classic buffer overflow (CWE-120) caused by a missing bounds check during parsing of stored procedure parameter metadata. An attacker who can control or spoof the server response can trigger an out-of-bounds write in the client process memory. The impact includes abnormal termination of the client application or, under certain conditions, execution of arbitrary code. The CVSS 4.0 score is 8.8 (high), reflecting network attack vector with high complexity and partial user interaction required. No official patch or remediation level has been published yet.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to memory corruption in the client application using the MongoDB BI Connector ODBC Driver. This may cause the application to crash or, in some cases, execute arbitrary code, potentially compromising the client system. The attack requires network access and the ability to control or impersonate the server providing metadata to the driver.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, avoid connecting the MongoDB BI Connector ODBC Driver to untrusted or potentially compromised servers. Monitor vendor communications for updates on patches or mitigations.
