CVE-2026-19125: CWE-287 Improper Authentication in lynn999 EthPress – Web3 Login
The EthPress – Web3 Login plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authentication Bypass in all versions up to, and including, 2.3.5. This is due to the verify_login() function in app/Login.php containing a missing return statement in the signature verification failure branch — when Signature::verify2() reports a mismatch, the function only assigns a WP_Error to a local variable and continues executing, causing unconditional fall-through to the login block where Address::log_in() calls wp_set_auth_cookie() regardless of whether the submitted signature is valid. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to log in as any WordPress user who has a linked wallet address — including administrators — by submitting that user's public wallet address alongside an arbitrary well-formed signature, enabling full site takeover.

Technical Summary
CVE-2026-19125 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in the EthPress – Web3 Login WordPress plugin versions up to 2.3.5. The issue arises because the verify_login() function in app/Login.php does not properly handle signature verification failures: when Signature::verify2() fails, the function assigns a WP_Error to a local variable but does not return, allowing execution to continue and ultimately calling wp_set_auth_cookie() unconditionally. This allows an attacker to authenticate as any user with a linked wallet address by submitting that user's public wallet address and an arbitrary well-formed signature, bypassing the intended authentication checks and enabling full site compromise.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can bypass authentication controls and log in as any WordPress user who has linked a wallet address, including administrators. This leads to full site takeover, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected WordPress site.
Mitigation Recommendations
No official patch or fix is currently documented. Users should monitor the vendor's advisory for updates. Until a fix is available, avoid using the EthPress – Web3 Login plugin or restrict its use to trusted environments. Implement additional access controls to mitigate risk. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.
