Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CWE-770) in ArmorStart® LT involves allocation of resources without limits or throttling when processing HTTP PUT requests. An attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP PUT request to the embedded web server, leading to denial of service by exhausting resources and causing loss of web server availability. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.7, indicating high severity. There is no indication of privilege or user interaction requirements, and no known exploits in the wild have been reported. The vendor has not published any patch or remediation details as of the publication date.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in denial of service by making the embedded web server unavailable, impacting availability of the ArmorStart® LT device's web interface. This could disrupt normal operations relying on the web server functionality.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider restricting access to the embedded web server from untrusted networks to reduce exposure to crafted HTTP PUT requests.
