Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in DTStack Taier 1.4.0 arises from improper handling of the clusterName argument in the FileUtils.deleteDirectory function of ClusterController.java. The manipulation enables path traversal, potentially allowing an attacker with high privileges to delete arbitrary directories remotely. The vulnerability is fixed in version 1.5.0, as indicated by the patch identified by commit ec8c59c76aceb04ab3080543ab2d9c6a4b674729.

Potential Impact

An attacker with high privileges can exploit this vulnerability remotely to perform path traversal via the clusterName argument, potentially deleting arbitrary directories. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 5.1 (medium severity), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and limited impact on confidentiality and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade DTStack Taier to version 1.5.0, which contains the official fix for this vulnerability. No other mitigation is indicated or required.
