Since the vulnerability involves missing encryption on a WebSocket connection, remediation would typically involve updating the software to use encrypted WebSocket connections (wss://). Until an official fix is available, users should consider network-level protections such as restricting access to the affected service to trusted networks.
Description
HCL AION has a vulnerability where the WebSocket connection used by its GenAI web interface is not encrypted. The connection uses the unencrypted ws:// protocol instead of the secure wss:// protocol, which could allow an attacker on the network to intercept or read data exchanged over this connection. This issue is classified as CWE-311 (Missing Encryption of Sensitive Data). The vulnerability has a low CVSS score of 3.7 and does not indicate known exploitation in the wild.
