Description

CVE-2026-23013 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's octeon_ep_vf network driver. The flaw occurs due to a mismatch in the dev_id parameter used in free_irq() during IRQ rollback after a failed request_irq() call. This mismatch can leave IRQ handlers registered after their associated resources are freed, potentially causing kernel crashes or memory corruption when interrupts fire. The issue affects Linux kernel version 6.9 and has been fixed in specific commits.
