A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix (commits referenced in establishedFacts.fixedVersions). No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
CVE-2026-23336 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's cfg80211 component related to wifi rfkill handling. The issue occurs because the rfkill_block work is not cancelled when a wireless device (wiphy) is unregistered, leading to a use-after-free error. This flaw was found by the Linux Verification Center using Syzkaller and affects Linux kernel version 2.6.31. The vulnerability has been fixed by cancelling the corresponding work in the wiphy_unregister() function.
