AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in several Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update affected Linux kernel versions to these fixed releases to remediate the vulnerability. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official patches or upgrading the kernel is the recommended mitigation. No alternative mitigations are indicated.

Description

CVE-2026-23392 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter nf_tables component. It occurs due to improper release of flowtables on error paths, specifically failing to call synchronize_rcu() after unregistering hooks. This flaw can expose the flowtable to packet processing and control plane operations, potentially leading to high impact including confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise. The vulnerability affects Linux kernel version 4.16 and has been fixed in subsequent commits.
