AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel source (commits d016c216bc75c45128160593a77b864a04dbe7c0 and others). Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes these fixes. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.

Description

CVE-2026-23412 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfilter subsystem related to BPF hook memory management. The flaw occurs when concurrent processes dump hooks via nfnetlink_hooks, leading to a kernel slab-use-after-free error. This issue has been fixed by deferring the release of hook memory until all concurrent RCU readers have completed. The vulnerability affects Linux kernel version 6.4 and has a high severity rating with a CVSS score of 7.8.
