Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-29116 is a denial of service vulnerability in multiple Dahua device models (IPC, SD, NVR, XVR, EVS, VTO, VTH, ASI, TPC). It allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to send a crafted packet that triggers an exception, causing the system to reboot unexpectedly. This results in service disruption. The vulnerability is identified as CWE-617 (Reachable Assertion). The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.7 (high severity), reflecting network attack vector, no privileges or user interaction required, and high impact on availability. Affected versions are those built before March 26, 2026. There is no vendor advisory or patch information available at this time.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation causes unexpected system reboots leading to denial of service on affected Dahua devices. This disrupts device availability and may impact security monitoring or operations relying on these devices. No data confidentiality or integrity impacts are indicated.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider limiting network exposure of affected devices and monitoring for unusual reboot behavior.
