AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vulnerability is fixed by clamping the num_written value to max_targets before use. Users should update to patched kernel versions as provided by their Linux distribution vendors. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ibmvfc driver allowed a malicious or compromised VIO server to cause out-of-bounds memory access by providing an invalid num_written value in the discover targets MAD response. This could lead to kernel memory leakage via crafted MADs sent back to the VIO server. The issue was fixed by validating and clamping the num_written value before use.
