Description
CVE-2026-31468 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's vfio/pci subsystem involving a double free in the dma-buf feature. The flaw occurs due to an error path in vfio_pci_core_feature_dma_buf() that improperly handles reference counting when file descriptor exhaustion happens, leading to a double free of allocated objects. This issue has been fixed by adjusting the error handling to correctly release resources and avoid the double free condition.
