A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
CVE-2026-31532 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's CAN raw socket implementation. The flaw occurs because raw_release() frees a per-CPU resource (ro->uniq) prematurely while raw_rcv() may still access it in an RCU read-side critical section. This can lead to memory corruption. The issue is fixed by deferring the freeing of this resource to the socket destructor, ensuring safe cleanup after all callbacks complete.
