AI-suggested
A patch is available that fixes the deadlock by reordering lock acquisition and moving ocfs2_del_inode_from_orphan outside the ip_alloc_sem lock. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. The Ubuntu advisory USN-8488-1 confirms the availability of this fix. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's OCFS2 file system was fixed. The issue involved a lock ordering violation between unlink and dio_end_io_write operations, which could cause a deadlock due to inconsistent acquisition order of inode_lock and ip_alloc_sem locks. The fix moves ocfs2_del_inode_from_orphan out of the ip_alloc_sem lock to resolve the deadlock.
