A patch is available in Linux kernel version 7.0.0-1006.6 that fixes this vulnerability by restricting the buffer sampling frequency attribute to accelerometer sensors only. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the issue.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's st_lsm6dsx driver allows out-of-bounds array access when setting the buffer sampling frequency for sensor types other than accelerometer or gyroscope. This occurs because the driver accesses an array with an index based on sensor type without proper bounds checking. The issue is fixed by restricting the buffer sampling frequency attribute to accelerometer sensors only.
