Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-33047 describes a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in Combodo iTop, a web-based IT service management tool. In versions before 3.2.3, users lacking write permissions could lock objects, which should normally require higher privileges. This flaw was resolved in version 3.2.3, preventing unauthorized locking of objects.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows users with limited privileges to lock objects they should not be able to modify. While this does not impact confidentiality or integrity, it can cause availability issues by preventing legitimate users from accessing or modifying locked objects. The CVSS score of 4.3 reflects a medium impact primarily on availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade to Combodo iTop version 3.2.3 or later, where this authorization issue has been fixed. No other mitigation is indicated by the vendor advisory or CVE data.
