Published: 07/10/2026 (07/10/2026, 14:58:23 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Grafana
Product: Grafana OSS

Description

Several Grafana API endpoints, some of them unauthenticated, do not limit the size of the request body before processing it. An attacker can send very large payloads that force excessive memory allocation, potentially exhausting memory and causing a denial of service.

Technical Analysis

Several Grafana OSS API endpoints lack request body size limits before processing, enabling attackers to send oversized payloads that force excessive memory allocation. This can exhaust system memory and cause denial of service conditions. The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-33382 and is classified under CWE-400 (Uncontrolled Resource Consumption). It affects multiple specific versions of Grafana OSS. No vendor advisory or patch information is currently available, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

An attacker can cause a denial of service by sending very large request payloads to vulnerable Grafana OSS API endpoints, leading to excessive memory consumption and potential service disruption. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, consider implementing external protections such as rate limiting, request size restrictions at the network or proxy level, or other resource controls to mitigate potential denial of service attacks targeting these API endpoints.
