Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-33451 is an arbitrary read/write vulnerability (CWE-125) in the Absolute Software Secure Access Windows client before version 14.50. An attacker with local control of the client can send malformed data to an API, which leads to elevation of privileges to system level. The CVSS 4.0 score is 8.5 (high), reflecting local attack vector with low complexity, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The vulnerability is not related to cloud services and no official remediation level or patch is currently documented.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows a local attacker to escalate privileges to system level on the affected Windows client. This can lead to full control over the system, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the device. There are no reports of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict local access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to the Secure Access client.
