VulnerabilityCVE-2026-35179cvecve-2026-35179cwe-862
Published: Mon Apr 06 2026 (04/06/2026, 19:05:49 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: WWBN
Product: AVideo

Description

WWBN AVideo versions 26. 0 and earlier contain a missing authorization vulnerability in the SocialMediaPublisher plugin. The publishInstagram. json. php endpoint acts as an unauthenticated proxy to the Facebook/Instagram Graph API, accepting user-controlled parameters including access tokens and Instagram account IDs. This allows unauthenticated users to make arbitrary Graph API calls through the server, potentially abusing stolen tokens or the platform's credentials. The vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 5. 3. No official patch or remediation guidance has been provided by the vendor as of the publication date.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-35179 is a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862) in WWBN AVideo (<= 26.0) within the SocialMediaPublisher plugin. The publishInstagram.json.php endpoint does not require authentication and forwards user-supplied parameters directly to the Facebook/Instagram Graph API via InstagramUploader::publishMediaIfIsReady(). This design flaw enables unauthenticated attackers to perform arbitrary Graph API calls through the server, potentially leveraging stolen access tokens or abusing the platform's own credentials to interact with Instagram accounts.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to misuse the platform as a proxy to the Facebook/Instagram Graph API, which can lead to unauthorized actions on Instagram accounts if valid access tokens are supplied. While it does not directly disclose sensitive data or cause availability issues, it can facilitate abuse of Instagram accounts and potentially impact the integrity of social media interactions managed through the platform.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should consider restricting access to the SocialMediaPublisher plugin endpoints or disabling the plugin if not in use. Monitoring for unusual API activity related to Instagram integration is advisable. Avoid exposing the publishInstagram.json.php endpoint to untrusted users.
