Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Quantum Networks Router QN-I-470 (version 6.1.1.B1) is due to inadequate sanitization of user-supplied input in the management CLI interface, classified under CWE-78 (OS command injection). An authenticated remote attacker can exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges on the device. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.7, reflecting high severity with network attack vector, low attack complexity, no user interaction, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. No patch or official remediation level has been published by the vendor as of the vulnerability disclosure date.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated access to the management CLI interface can execute arbitrary OS commands with root privileges, potentially compromising the entire device. This could lead to full system compromise, unauthorized control, and disruption of network operations relying on the affected router. The high CVSS score indicates significant risk if exploited.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the management CLI interface to trusted administrators only and monitor for suspicious activity. Avoid exposing the management interface to untrusted networks. Follow vendor communications closely for updates on patches or mitigations.
