Published: 05/14/2026 (05/14/2026, 15:44:22 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: devspace-sh
Product: devspace

Description

DevSpace versions prior to 6.3.21 have a vulnerability where the UI server WebSocket accepts connections from all origins by default. This allows a malicious website visited by a developer to establish a cross-origin WebSocket connection to ws://127.0.0.1:8090, exposing several endpoints without proper authentication. The issue is fixed in version 6.3.21.

Technical Analysis

DevSpace, a client-only developer tool for Kubernetes, had a vulnerability (CVE-2026-42283) in versions before 6.3.21 where its UI server WebSocket accepted connections from any origin. This lack of origin restriction allowed malicious websites to connect cross-origin to the local WebSocket server at ws://127.0.0.1:8090, exposing multiple endpoints without authentication. This is a case of CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Function) combined with CWE-200 (Information Exposure). The vulnerability is fixed in version 6.3.21.

Potential Impact

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by tricking a developer into visiting a malicious website while running the DevSpace UI. The malicious site can then establish a WebSocket connection to the local DevSpace UI server, potentially accessing sensitive endpoints and data. The CVSS score of 7.7 reflects high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There are no known exploits in the wild as of the published date.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade DevSpace to version 6.3.21 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Since the vendor has released a fixed version, applying this official update is the recommended remediation. No other mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
