Published: Thu May 14 2026 (05/14/2026, 15:44:22 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: devspace-sh
Product: devspace

Description

DevSpace versions prior to 6. 3. 21 have a vulnerability where the UI server WebSocket accepts connections from all origins by default. This allows a malicious website visited by a developer to establish a cross-origin WebSocket connection to ws://127. 0. 0. 1:8090, exposing several endpoints without proper authentication. This issue is fixed in version 6. 3. 21.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-42283 is a vulnerability in devspace-sh's DevSpace client tool for Kubernetes development. Before version 6.3.21, the UI server WebSocket does not enforce origin restrictions, allowing cross-origin WebSocket connections from malicious websites. This missing authentication for critical functions (CWE-306) leads to exposure of sensitive endpoints (CWE-200). The vulnerability is resolved in DevSpace 6.3.21.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker controlling a malicious website to connect to the DevSpace UI WebSocket on localhost and access several exposed endpoints without authentication. This can lead to full confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise of the affected DevSpace instance. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.7 (high), reflecting local attack vector with high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in DevSpace version 6.3.21. Users should upgrade to this version or later to remediate the vulnerability. No other official remediation or temporary workaround is provided in the available data.
